Snickers has had a great 2008 . Sept 29,2008. Snickers had a dental 4 teeth pulled. One abcessed. DOing well. BGs are starting to regulate better. Need to work on getting off the dry Dm. He is a Fancy Feast man.
Mandy well some skin flareups. Just finished Orbax Nov 13. Mandy 3 year off the OTJ Nov 15. All Is well.

Snickers pmps 197. Best ps in months . He is on 5unints NPH. I gave only three. I was scared 5 units at 197 would be too much. He is laying off the dry dm lately. When he stays out of the dry food bgs stay in 100-300 range. When he munches on dry we are sitting in the 400-500 range. A place I do not like to be. He is active playing, being very chatty.Doing very well.
Mandy is living the good life. Being a tabby and loving very second. Dec.19,2007 bg 77! That's my girl. Diet controlled 2 years and counting.

Well ,What can I say,Snickers is eating Dry Dm. Cheryll is happy ,Vet made her day. I am not amused. When I had him at 2 cans of FF a day. No dry. His bgs ran in the 100-300 range. When he chows down on Dry Dm his bgs stay in 400-500 range. yes the insulin brings bg down.But I am worried about what it is doing to his kidneys,nerves , heart etc. If I tell vet about my concern about the bgs ,she will say FF is to blame. Well I have the proof with blood sugar numbers that this is not the case. Snickers is very carb senitive. he is very active, appears to feel well,alert. Not urinating excessively.
Mandy is doing well. Alert active naughty!!!!!
Bgs in nondiabetic range,last bg 66.
Nov.15,2007 Mandy will be off insulin and diet controlled 2 years.
Oct 20,2007 Snickers marked his 1 year milestone of being adopted and living with us. He is a wonderful,sweet loving little guy. All is well.
Will keep on with getting bgs back into better range.

Mandy doing very well. Active, naughty. Sept 29th BG 77.
Snickers is hanging in,chatty ,busy and naughty.
BG range 300-400. Dm dry snacks. I try to leave out just FF . He loves his FF. Cheryll Feeds him dm on the side. If he stays away from dry food we have BG in 200-300 range.. He is feeling great ,playing with Mandy. All is good. Oct 20th with be 1st annifurrsry living with us. he has come a long way. Nov 15th, 2 year diet control milestone for Mandy. We control the Diabetes it does not control us.

Snickers finds Dm Dry

Snickers has started eating and liking Dry Dm for his snacks. Mandy lets him raid her food dish. His main meals are Fancy feast. This is all well and good. But the thing is his blood sugars are living in the 400 range. I am not amused. I am trying to keep him out of dry. When he is Fancy Feast only bgs in 100-300 range. Cheryll can not seem to see the problem here. She is glad he doesn't wake her up at night. Her suggestion ,"oh well give more insulin". Almost a year of work down the drain. I will keep trying. Cheryll is happy . When she tells Snickers dr. the 22 of august when he goes for his upteenth frucostmime level dr. will be happy also.
Mandy doing well. End of last month she had her ear cut when I doing a ear poke for a bg. Applied pressure for almost an hour and finally took her in to dr. and they put on something to seal and clot it off.

Update on Mandy and Snickers

Both are well. Active happy. Very busy.
Mandy had a slight mishap on the 26th. I was doing her monthly BG Check.
I use 25 gauge needles,not lancets. Got a bubble and bg of 74. Well seems along the way I some how cut mandy's ear. It was pouring blood. I kept applying pressure for 20mins. Every time I thought it was sealing off ,a very mad and put out Mandy growled hissed and shook her head and off we went. Called vet said to keep applying pressure and apply some ice. Well tried Mandy was getting so mad and upset ,I was afraid she would get sick. Ran her in to vet,they had to clamp it down for some time .Then put glue sealing stuff on it. Got home Mandy run out of crate,started grooming . All is well.
Snickers bgs before insulin had been running in 200-300 range. Decided he wanted to nibble on dry dm ,well then his bgs are in high 300-mid 400's. I am not amused. Got busy got and kept him out of dry food and he is fine.I am trying to be sure only FF goes in his mouth. We are working on that. Other wise he is a happy ,content playful sweet little guy. And so goes our sugar dance.To Be Continued.

Snickers Update ,Things are looking Up

July 3. Well things are looking up. Keep Snickers out of dry food and his preshots stay in 200-300 range. He is active. Plays enjoys being a cat and drives his sister nuts. Or so Mandy the world's greatest diva/Drama Queen thinks. Well she gives to him right back and then some. Both are well.
Happy 11th Birthday Snickers. July 1st was his B-Day.He had lots of fun.

Feeling better. I just did not want to take 3 steps back. We are doing well. At least he has not had the food spikes. With his canned food,he gets a total of 8-10 grams carbs for the whole day. One pass at the dry food and his system must go into shock.
We are going to keep on with wet food and testing. Since Cheryll refuses to poke his ear I spend alot of time at home. But gee I love it. Anything for my two sweet furry kitties. Mandy is well. Tabby business as usual.

I am well. Dermatitis flareup improving.

Snickers Mom Cheryll ,well she doesn't like to have to get him snacks and stuff. So She has got him back to eating Dry Dm. His bgs have been in high 300s-mid 400s. My mom who takes care of him is so upset,she is not feeling well. She is crying and her stomach is very sore and upset. Snickers only eats Fancy Feast during the day. Mom checks his bgs am and pm and spot checks.

Cheryll will not test him. She wants him to eat just dry. and shoot his insulin morning and night.

Her theory is well he will never be in remission and off insulin so??

8 1/2 months of hard work down the drain. Well I will keep on trying to get his bgs back down and off the dry.

Sometimes when I shoot his insulin at 12mn or say 11pm Etc I shoot it looks like 3 times in one day. It is 12 hours apart.
I talked to vet she said to shoot between 150-200. I had been holding insulin when under 200. Then I would have 300-400 bgs. Vet said to give full 3units ,even uner 150. She would only hold it if in the 60-70 range or he was ill and not eating. I have shot him with 1 unit at 179. That so far is the lowest he has been.

Snickers 8 TH Month Annifurrisary of being Adopted

Eight months ago Snickers arrived and headbutted and whiskerkissed his way into our lives. He has settled in very well. Mandy and Snickers together are a force to be reckoned with.
His diabetes is regulated with 3 units of NPH and low carb Fancy Feasts. His Favs are :
beef feast
liver and chicken feast
beef and chicken feast
Turkey and Giblet
He sometimes in a pinch eats liver and beef.
He does not like fish flavored anything ,especially if it has atrong taste and smell.Tuna we are not even going there.

Mandy so loves the life of a tabby cat. Getting fed and waited on hand and foot. A brother who worships her always.
Mandy is doing well with her diabetes .Still diet controlled. Sheis more active and running and jumping some more.Mandy has never been much of a jumper. Which is okay with me.
She lives the good life .Laying in the sun watching birds and tanning her strips.

Mandy The Life of a tabby

Mandy doing well. Playing, bird watching and napping. Plays with her brother Snickers. When not together ,they both think of ways to torture each other. They like each other really.
Mandy's Diabetes is still diet controlled and she is doing well. No problems. Last bg about 2 weeks ago was 80. Mandy is a beauitful loveable girl.

6/4 Vet called Snickers 6/1 frucsotmine level back. 447, normal. Vet is pleased.
Recheck in a month. . Asked about when he got under 200 I held insulin. Vet said not to. As long as he ate and acted like he was feeling well give 3 units. She said the only time she would hold it was if bg was 60-70 range.So I give insulin for bgs 150 and up. No insulin 149 and below. I told her I was too scared to give insulin under 150. She said okay. She said my holding insulin got Snickers system confused. So hopefully SNickers will stay in the 100-300 range. He feels great and looks like a million.

June 4th 3:10 am Bg 422. He hwas in the dry cat food.3units NPH and one can Fancy Feast.Alert active naughty.
June 3rd. Am bg 250. Amazing since he was 189 on pm ps. No insulin.
Pm june 3rd bg 384. Thinderstorm and had finished am can FF about 11am. Bg at 3:10 pm.

We have had alot of changes in our family since I last posted.
Oct 20,2006 Snickers age 10years newly discovered feline diabetic came to live with us. At first we all thought he might be diet controlled. No luck.
Snickers has 3 units of NPH insulin 2 times a day.I poke his ear to test his blood sugar to see if it is safe to give his insulin. He eats low carb Fancy feasts,and loves it.
Jan30,2007 at 8:35 am My beloved Snuffy went very peacefully and happily to the Rainbow Bridge to live with her kitties Mervie and Seamus. June 3rd 2007 was Mervie's 5th anniversary at the Bridge. Snuffy was 131/2 years old.
It is Mandy who has been diet controlled since 2005 and Snickers now. We miss Snuffy ,but know she is happy.
